![]() One of the chief reasons that many in creative or intuitive based businesses struggle, is because of the level of value they place upon themselves, in conjunction with some of the beliefs that they have about money. In this blog I am sharing four of the top reasons you may be getting in your own way, and what you can do to begin to value yourself a little more so that you can increase the chances of successfully sharing your gift with the world. "The value of a man should be seen in what he gives, not in what he is able to receive." - Albert Einstein 1) People in your inner circle may know very similar things to you. As a result you may create the perception that everyone knows what you know, and you place no value on it. We tend to hang out with people with similar values, awareness, likes and dislikes, so it is not a surprise that we may struggle to build a client base from our friends ( and many people don’t even like to charge their friends for services which is a whole other blog ). It is not that they don't value what you share, it is that it is a knowledge or gift that they themselves have. The people who will value your work are the ones who are looking for what you know, the gifts you possess. Value what you know, even if it seems incredibly basic to you, because there are people out there for whom that knowledge is completely new. It is valuable to them. Also, there are people who won’t value the work you do, no matter how good it is, they are on a different wavelength and have different values, that is all. Who wants to know what you know? Where are they? Allow the universe to deliver you the answers to these questions. ‘I am valued for the services I offer” 2) You might look upon your gift as something that you merely channel, nothing to do with you. Whether it is your healing gifts, intuitive insights, or creativity, it is a gift that you have been blessed with. When you can look upon money as merely one form of energy exchange representing perceived value, then it is possible to place greater value on it. A football player kicks a ball around a football field and is quite happy to ask for $1 million dollars a week. Not that I am condoning greed, but too many spiritual practitioners fall on the other side of the spectrum in that they live in poverty because they have not allowed themselves to receive. Their humility can actually be a mask for their low self esteem or self value. Maybe you can do the odd session for free, but many people with incredible gifts allow themselves to go broke because they do the majority for free. Where many of us need to look is at our issues with money. Money is never the problem, it is the consciousness that has governance over it, so determine who you want to be with money instead of looking at the world of people in power who misuse it. I would recommend “The Soul Of Money” by Lynne Twist, the name says it all. There are many different systems that you can implement when charging for your services, so you need to ask something like: “What pricing structure should I implement that will help me achieve my business vision?”. “I am charging the prices that feel congruent with who I am and allow me to fulfill my vision.” 3) Examine what you believe about the value of creative gifts. Many artists see their gift as something to do on the sideline because they believe they cannot make money with it. There are many phrases thrown around by those of the creative nature that limit their potential: “I am a starving artist” “You have to get a real job, art doesn’t pay the bills.” If you believe that you cannot make money living your passion, then you will not. When you ask the right questions you can be drawn to new possibilities and ideas for what you can do to create money for yourself, doing what you love. As a creative person it will be much easier for you to find creative solutions that allow you to make money, but only if you believe it is possible. Ask yourself a question like: “How can I make money doing what I love?” “I make money with my gifts.” 4) Your spiritual gifts may be valued more greatly exactly where you work now, than you may actually realize. As a result of being receptive, you may find yourself living with levels of psychic abilities and believe that you must therefore become a psychic and quit your day job. Your gifts can be used in many different fields, and your calling may be far different from what you believe it should be as a result of your gifts. Listen deeply to the intuitive guidance you receive within, you may be called to be a professional intuitive, you may not. For years I thought I was destined to work solely for myself, coaching others. When I surrendered to guidance I found myself enjoying working for a publishing company, learning much about publishing and writing, and finding my gifts valued as never before. It always surprises me when I meet people in different lines of work who are not what they at first seem to be. So, if you have these gifts, and you do value them, listen carefully to your own inner guidance as to your highest calling when it comes to work. You could be the one to demonstrate the value to others. The world at large needs you now, and each of us will be called to fulfill that need in different ways. So on one hand, I am saying that you need to value your gifts, even when the world does not. But on the other hand, I am not saying that this automatically means that you need to drop your current profession to be a psychic to the stars. Your calling may be right where you are right now. “I am listening to divine guidance and following my calling. I have valuable gifts that the world needs.” "Price is what you pay. Value is what you get." - Warren Buffet When you believe that who and what you are is valuable, you will be able to persuade others who may not have noticed you before. If you are sending out piles of marketing pages, but deep down do not value yourself, you could find yourself struggling. When you believe you are valuable, you do not need to convince or prove yourself, you are powerfully able to demonstrate that your gift is valuable, and that you are valuable for exactly who you are. It is a great joy to be paid for who you authentically are. ![]() SIGN UP FOR A COMPLIMENTARY COACHING SESSION If you are an energy healer, writer, or anyone setting up a holistic health practice, and are unsure of how best to share your work with others, contact me for a complimentary coaching session in which I can show you how you may be sabotaging yourself and what you can do to ensure that you are delivering the message to others about yourself that you want to deliver. ![]() If you are like many people with a creative or spiritual business, you may feel like you are going unnoticed, or not making the difference you want to make in the world. You can either stamp your feet because nobody is investing in your services or buying your books. Or, you can get clear on whether the action you are taking is really going to allow you to achieve the reach that you desire. I am all about empowering people on their journey, and something that I see over and over again is that unconsciously people do not want to be seen. And I am talking about the authentic version of them, not the fake version that society is more likely to accept. They believe it is not safe for them to be seen, because if they are seen they will be judged, they will upset others through their work, or they might say the wrong things on an interview. With this subconscious fear playing out underneath the surface, it is no surprise that many authors, energy healers, or spiritual coaches/mentors do not make the impact they want to make. And of course, if these fears are present in you as you write a book or market your wares, then you may find yourself writing a book that deserves to be hidden from the world, or marketing material that will ensure you stay hidden. If, subconsciously, we do not want to be seen, we will do things that guarantee that we will never be seen. We will invest our time in advertising and marketing that won’t work, while at some level we will think we are investing our time and money wisely. We will sabotage opportunities for exposure for our books, all because we are not truly being honest about our fear. Now your goal may not be the international stage, but in my early days of fearing being seen, I could not even watch videos of myself, I was judging myself too harshly. Now I can sit comfortably and watch myself speaking on TV or video interviews, and as a result I am able to improve upon my skills. It was always about the authentic me. I could be seen when it meant being what others wanted me to be, but when it meant being the authentic me, and that is the challenge for all of us. This is why it is always important to be honest about our fears, at the very least to voice them to ourselves, so that we don’t block our awesomeness and highest potential. It will be worth having a little conversation with you when nobody is looking. The conversation could go a little something like this. What would be the down side of you actually being noticed in the world? Many authors scoff at this, “Of course I want to be seen”, they say. But through my years of coaching I have learned that it is not what they say out loud that matters, but what they tell me by their body language, and the subconscious beliefs. Maybe you wrote a book about something that has not been validated by science and you are from a family of scientists. Many people who run energy healing businesses or other spiritual services, fear that others will think that they are weird, or that their work is hokey, instead of focusing on educating people on why it is awesome. That could limit how much exposure you might "want" to get, for fear of being shut down by someone. Maybe there is something that happened in your past that you don’t want people to find out about. What if people don't like you? Whatever it is, you need to make yourself aware of this. It is ok to have fears, it is not ok to let them run the show. Even if you never admit to them to anyone else (which isn’t that helpful because someone who has been where you are going can alleviate many of your fears through new awareness), you need to admit them to yourself. If you don't admit them you will either take poor action, or no action at all. What do you need to do to change your inner dialogue? If there is something that you are afraid might come out if you are seen in the public eye, then you need to release your own judgments of yourself and/or sort that issue out now. If you still judge yourself for it, and it does get brought up, it could be painful. If there is something in your personal life that you have not taken responsibility for, or looked more closely in to, I recommend that you do that. If we haven’t found peace with our own shadow (the part of us we want to hide from the world out of shame or guilt), it is more likely to come out in messy ways. Even if being seen, means being seen in your local comunity, it is important to address the fears. For some it is being seen by the world, for some it is allowing themselves to be seen by their neighbour. What action can you take that will improve your chances of being seen? This is a question that will guide you to finding solutions that you actually want. If you do not ask this question, and allow your unconscious fears to guide the way, you will unintentionally end up pursuing avenues that keep you hidden from the world. Been there, done that, and it cost me a lot of time and money (but I forgave myself). By asking this question you will begin to find yourself being drawn to different answers and solutions that you may not have noticed before. Or something that you have known about for a while will become an obvious choice; you just have to make sure that you do not avoid it out of fear. It could be publishing a youtube video or blog, or saying yes to that interview that you are afraid of screwing up. We choose the safer paths so often, even if they only lead to greater frustrations. Feel the fear and do it any way! How can you focus your imagination in a more productive way? Begin to talk yourself out of your fears. Your imagination is powerful, but when abused it will be used to focus upon all that can go wrong, and if the focus is kept there you can end up creating it. Your imagination can be a powerful ally, I mean look, it helped you (or is helping you) create your book or the business you have created up until this point. You can use that same imagination to imagine a more fun and thrilling ride, rather than a fearful one where we end up feeling paralyzed. What do you want your public life to look like? Imagine yourself as confident, funny, loving life, exuding integrity and consciously step into that role. Persuade yourself that you are that person and then persuade the world, not the other way around. As always, remember that the vision you have is one that is within your reach, it will require you learning a few lessons about yourself along the way, and stepping into the greatest version of yourself. And if you don’t allow yourself to see your magnificence in the privacy of your own home, don’t be surprised when the world doesn’t notice either. Give yourself permission to be seen as your authentic self!
